Wild Dominate Hurricanes to Improve Playoff Record to 2-0!
On Monday night the Wild travelled to Woodville to take on the always tough Woodville Hurricanes in the 2nd of 4 round robin matches.

This time around the game was never in doubt as our boys dominated from start to finish.

Early in the first Howell made a great rush and fired a great shot but was robbed on a great save by the Woodville goalie however coming in hard for the rebound was Dewsbury who pounded it in for his 2nd of the post season and the boys were off and running.

Just a few minutes later Giguere would fire a blast that would sneak past the Woodville net-minder and just like that we were up 2-0.

Next was Howell breaking loose and making a great deke to extend the lead to 3-0. He would add yet another before the period would end blasting one through the 5-hole as our boys would take a demanding 4-0 lead into the 2nd period.

In the 2nd the Hurricanes tried to bounce back with an early rush but Oke coolly and calmly turned them away with a couple nice glove hands to further frustrate the Hurricanes squad.

The rest of period was spent mostly in the Woodville zone. Dowswell, Wilson, Haecker and Underwood were incredible on defense keeping the puck in the Woodville zone while our forwards were buzzing all over with several great chances.

In the 3rd the boys would pad the lead with a fantastic deke by Giguere to make it 5-0 then with just 23 seconds left Mitchell would seal the deal with a top shelf marker to give the boys the 6-0 victory.

A fantastic team effort all around. Benge, Yerema and Parry provided solid fore-checking all game long. Dewsbury and Bugg were firing on all cylinders with all kinds of chances while Howell, Giguere and Mitchell continued to show great skills, stickhandling through the Woodville defenders and making several nice passes.

Our defensemen (Underwood, Dowswell, Wilson and Haecker) were dominant in this one allowing Oke to walk away with the shut-out.

Next game is scheduled for Sunday February 26th at the Cannington Ice Box. Hope to see everyone there as the Wild aim to clinch 1st place in round robin play.
