Brock Wild Advances with 3-2 Win Over Hurricanes.
On Sunday the Wild were home to the Woodville Hurricanes in a must win game for the Woodville squad.

The Hurricanes came out flying putting immense pressure on us in the early going but Underwood was ready and made several nice saves to keep the score knotted at zero.

After surviving the intense pressure from the Hurricanes, the Wild would respond late in the period with some pressure of their own. Benge had a great chance in close but his shot was blocked with a great save by the Woodville net-minder.

Woodville came close to taking the lead right after with a breakaway but coming back hard was Benge who caught the Woodville attacker from behind to eliminate the scoring chance.

With less than 5 minutes left the Wild would strike as Howell would put a nice backhand up over the shoulder of the Woodville goalie to take a 1-0 lead.

The Wild had several more in close chances including a nice pass from Dewsbury to Bugg who let a nice one-timer go but was stopped by the Woodville goalie with a brilliant save.

With just 1 minute left, Woodville would once again get loose on a breakaway but this time put the puck top shelf over Underwood to tie the game at 1 heading into the 2nd.

The second period was highlighted by save after save at both ends of the rink as both goalies showed off their stuff. Midway through the period Woodville got loose on yet another breakaway but Underwood made a sensational save to keep the score at 1-1.

With just 4 minutes left the Wild would finally strike on a nice goal by Giguere to take a 2-1 lead. But the lead was short lived as Woodville would once again strike right back  with just 30 seconds left in the period to tie the game at 2.

The goaltending battle continued into the 3rd with both teams playing tremendous hockey with terrific chances at both ends.

The Wild would finally get one late in the period on a great deke by Howell to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

Underwood would close the door for the remainder of the game not allowing anything past him as the boys hung on for a huge 3-2 win that improved our record to 3-0 and clinched our spot in the next round.

Missing Wilson, our defense stepped up big time pressing hard to keep the puck in the Woodville zone and clearing the defensive zone. Yerema, Dowsell and Haecker were incredible all night long.

Offensively, Howell and Giguere provided the goals while Bugg, Oke and Dewsbury had several quality chances and Mitchell made several great rushes. Parry did a good job getting back to help the defense and made some nice passes.

But the star of the game was definitely Underwood stopping a barrage of shots against a very desperate Woodville squad.

Next up is the Mariposa Lightning on Tuesday night in a tune-up before our next round. Congratulations boys!
