The Amazing Atom White!
I am truly in awe of how much this team has improved since Christmas. With just 1 game
to determine which team would challenge Lindsay Black for the championship, our team did it just as we had done many times this season - coming from behind.
The first period saw our side with much of the play in the Kawartha zone and several scoring chances but nothing on the scoreboard to show for it.
The Coyotes took an early lead in the second and doubled that lead with just 2:50 remaining in the period. But in true Atom White fashion, we didn't give up. Farmer McLeod got us started when he fired a low hard shot off the post just 14 seconds after going down 2-0. Two minutes later Bryden Parliament tied the score on a perfectly placed shot to the top corner. With just 36 seconds left in the second, our side kept up the momentum by storming the Kawartha net. That's when the Bulldog dug out the loose puck and slid a shot under the Coyotes netminder, just inside the far post to give us the lead with only 0.6 seconds left in the period!
Although there were many chances in the third period, there was no more scoring. Liam Flood made several outstanding saves to preserve the win and send us off to play Lindsay for the championship.
After a first half season where we finished 4-12, we really put it together in the second half with a record of 10-8-2!
We now have 3 games against Lindsay Black and a chance to finish #1!
