Atom Reds Pull Off Victory Over Mariposa Lightning!
On Tuesday night the Brock Wild hosted the Mariposa Lightning. The Wild were fresh off a 5-1 win over Sturgeon and were looking to keep the momentum going with another big win.

In the 1st period the Wild put several shots on goal early but the Lightning goalie was sharp making several nice stops including a beautiful glove save on Payne to keep the Wild off the board.

Finally, at the midway point, newly appointed Captain Marshall would get the Wild on the board with a hard shot from the point that would sneak through the 5-hole to give the Wild a 1-0 lead.

Despite getting several quality scoring chances, the Wild could not add another before the period would end as the Lightning goalie was on fire making several nice stops.

In the 2nd period the Lighting started to mount the comeback firing some hard shots at Pardy who was there to make the saves when needed.

But 3 minutes in, the Lightning would get a lucky break as they would take advantage of a miscommunication between Pardy and our defenseman to pounce on the loose puck and jam it just under the pad of Pardy to tie it up at 1-1.

But the Wild would bounce back just minutes later. After a scramble in front of the Lightning net Farell battled the puck out from the corner and made a beauty pass out front to Adomeit who would tap it home to regain the lead 2-1.

The Lightning came back strong with several nice chances including a breakaway late in the period but Pardy stoned them to keep the score 2-1 after 2 periods of play.

Early in the 3rd the Lightning would mount another furious attack but again Pardy was there to make the saves including yet another breakaway stop.

The Wild would finally settle things down midway through the 3rd and once again take control of the game. Lo Presti would make a nice end to end rush and finish it with a nice wrister into the top corner to extend the Wild lead to 3-1.

The with less than 2 minutes left the Wild would seal it. Marshall would pinch in to keep the puck in the Lightning zone then made a tape to tape pass to Adomeit who one timed it home for his 2nd of the night to secure the 4-1 victory.

In addition to Marshall, Totton, Wilson, Haecker and Underwood continued to impress with their toughness on the Wild blue line making it tough for their opponents to generate a lot of offense.

The few times that they were able to get through our dynamic defense, Pardy was there to make the saves.

All 3 forward lines were buzzing in this one with some nice chances from all 3 lines. Adomeit and Lo Presti provided the goals for the forwards while Farell, Payne and Cohoon all had several high quality shots that just could not find their way past the Lightning net-minder.

Beattie, Birchard and Mitchell showed great work ethic digging the puck out from the corners and making some nice passes while Parry chipped in with some nice passes into the Lightning zone.

Overall a solid performance resulting in a big win!

Next up is the Woodville Hurricanes on Sunday in Woodville. The Hurricanes will be very motivated in this one to get back at us after we pummeled them 15-0 the last time the 2 teams met.

Also the Sunderland Santa Clause Parade will take place Saturday following practice for any of those interested in taking part in the parade. Both Atom teams will be entering a float to be decorated at the Oldham’s residence following the practice.

Hope to see all of you this weekend! Go Wild Go!!
