Atom Green Outlast Atom Reds in 2nd Battle of Brock!
Coming off a gritty come from behind tie against the Millbrook Stars on Sunday night the boys were back at it again Thursday, this time against our cross-town rivals the Brock Wild Reds.

This was a see-saw battle as both teams battled very hard in an intense battle with bragging rights on the line!

The Atom Reds would get on the board 1st just 3 minutes in as Marcus Howell would walk in all alone to fire one just past the outstretched pad of Oke.

But the Green machines would come right back just 3 minutes later as Underwood would hammer in a rebound after some nice passing between Bugg and Housser to tie the game at 1.

The game would remain tied heading into the 2nd with both teams getting some close chances but both goalies making huge saves to preserve the tie.

Early in the 2nd the Green machines would strike again! This time it was Parry hammering home a one-timer after a nice feed from Housser to give the Green a 2-1 lead.

The lead would hold for the remainder of the period as both goalies continued to play strong.

In the 3rd the Reds would battle back this time Jonathan Patterson took nice pass from Mitchell Wright and put one through the 5-hole to tie the game at 2 just 1 minute into the period.

3 minutes later our Greens would take the lead again. Hunt would keep the puck in at the blue line to keep the Green attack going and send it over to Malcolm who made a beauty pass to Bugg for nice tap in as the Greens would once again take a 3-2 lead.

The lead would hold up until just over 4 minutes left when the Reds would once again tie it up. Once again Howell would find rip one just past Oke and we were tied at 3-3 late.

But with just 1 minute left the Green machines would get the lead back. The Bugg, Watt and Malcolm line pushed hard putting intense pressure on the Reds defense deep in the Red zone and would finally be rewarded. Malcolm would send the puck to the front of the net where Bugg, going hard to the net would jam it home to secure a 4-3 lead.

Despite a hard push by the Reds, our boys were able to hang on for an exciting 4-3 victory!

Great work by everyone.

Missing Harder on defense our foursome of Underwood, Hunt, Francis and Kirkhner showed a gritty effort battling hard along the boards and in the corners and all made some nice rushes out of our zone. All 4 also showed great hussle getting back quickly and getting their bodies in front of the Red attackers.

Bugg and Housser continued their strong play down the middle creating some nice scoring opportunities while also working hard on the back-check.

Geissberger had another strong game on the wing and continues to improve every game getting ever so much closer to getting his 1st goal this season and doing a great job getting the puck out of our end.

Parry and Malcolm showed a lot of hussle and did a great job getting the puck out at the blue line and going hard to the net in the offensive zone.

Watt coming off a strong showing in goal on Sunday night, had a solid game up front battling hard in the corners and showed a lot of great speed on the backcheck.

Oke was rock solid in goal making some big time saves to secure the victory.

Excellent work Wild!

Next up the Wild took on the Kawartha Coyotes on Friday night with Watt getting the start in goal.

Stay tuned.
