Wild Tame the Coyotes with Huge Playoff Win!!
On Saturday the Brock Wild took on the Kawartha Coyotes in an important match-up with both teams battling for their playoff lives.

Both teams were hungry for the Win in the 3rd and final match between the 2 teams. Kawartha came in with a slight edge in the playoff series having tied 1-1 and pulling off a tight 2-1 victory on Friday night.

But the Wild were up to the challenge and were determined to get the much needed 2 points.

The Coyotes were able to strike first early in the 1st. The Coyotes forward was able to sneak in behind our defense to get a breakaway and made and beauty move that Half-Price had no chance to stop.

But the Wild would not back down. The Wild went on the attack for the remainder of the 1st with several high quality chances that just would not go in as we headed to the 2nd period down by 1.

In the 2nd the Coyotes once again came at us hard but Half-Price made some great saves to hold the Coyotes to 1.

The Wild continued to attack relentlessly in the Coyotes zone but just could not bury one as we headed into the 3rd period still down by one.

In the 3rd the Wild efforts would finally pay off midway through the final period. Lyncher made some great moves and fired a hard shot on net. The Coyotes net-minder made a great first save but Termi-Nater was crashing hard to the net jammed in the rebound to tie the game up at 1.

The Wild kept coming on strong and would soon be rewarded again. This time is Mason Stewart who took a nice pass from Sea Bass and buried one just over the glove of the Coyotes tender. With just 2 minutes to go the Wild were up 2-1!

The Coyotes would pull out all the stops in the final 2 minutes as they pulled their goalie and put on the extra attacker. They came close but Half-Price and the Wild defense held on strong and would not let them score as the Wild hung on to a Wild 2-1 victory!!

The game was especially rewarding given how hard this team has worked over the past several games.

As noted by several of our fans, this team has really come on strong since our tournament in Paisley.

With the win the Wild leapfrogged both the Kawartha Coyotes and the Lindsay Muskies to move into 3rd place just 4 back of the number 2 seeded Millbrook Stars who play have 3 of their remaining 6 games against the top seeded Mariposa Lightning and 1 more against us.

Every player on the team contributed to the victory with every player showing incredible improvement over the past few weeks.

Lyncher and Pulley have shown a lot of confidence in leading several rushes from the back end and into the attacking zone and creating a lot of great scoring chances.

Reesor and Mitchell were a powerful duo on defense holding the puck into the offensive zone and working hard on the back check.

Brennan was a total beast at both ends of the rink shutting down the Coyotes attack and firing several hard quality shots at the Coyotes net. It is just a matter of time before one of those lasers finds the back of the net.

Sea Bass (Kirkhner) showed a lot of grit battling against the Coyotes top forwards and also generated a lot of offence with some hard shots from the point.

Vonzi and Mason both had strong games at both ends of the rink as both players created a ton of offensive chances and were very strong on the back check.

Wild Bill has really come along as a reliable center and played a great game shutting down the opposition while also creating some nice scoring chances.

Our wingers, Leon, Payner, Powsy, James and Termi-Nater did an outstanding job battling along the boards and in the corners to get the puck out of our end and deep into the offensive zone.

Half-Price was a rock in the Wild Net making some big time saves when needed.

Next up is the Lindsay Muskies tomorrow night in Sunderland at 6:00pm.

Let’s go Wild!!
