Wild Finish the Season Strong!
The Atoms finished off their 2019-20 season playing at their very best as they wrapped up the final 6 games with an unofficial 3-2-1 record.

The Wild followed up our huge 2-1 win over the Coyotes with 2 more huge wins against Lindsay and the # 1 seed Mariposa Lightning scores while losing 2 very close hard fought games against Lindsay and Millbrook.

The Wild would cap off the season with an unofficial tie in the final game. With the score tied at 2 in the final minute and the Wild outworking the Muskies, the coaches decided to take a gamble and pull the goalie to go for the win. Unfortunately the Muskies would score on the empty net to take the 3-2 win but in the hearts and minds of the players this was a tie.

Every player on the team played a major role in the team’s success.

Half-Price provided strong goaltending between the pipes and played equally as hard as a forward adding 2 goals in the team’s victory against the top seeded Lightning.

Watsy returned to the team and had the game of his life in goal making some unbelievable saves to hold the Lighting to just 1 goal in the victory.

Our defense was very solid in the final 6 games as we would surrender just 11 goals in the final 6 games. Sea Bass, Lynch, Brennan, Reesor, Payner and Mitchell were in beast mode, shutting down the opposition and forcing the shooters. They also were very strong at the opponents blue line to keep our attacks alive. Brennan would also net his first career goal in the final game of the season!

Our forwards were relentless on the attack creating havoc for the opposing teams defense and goalie.

Wild Bill, Vonzy and Mason played strong 2-way hockey down the middle and created tons of scoring chances while coming back hard defensively.

Leon came oh so close on many occasions to getting his first goal but the puck would just not go in for him. He has come a long way since that first practice of the season. It has been amazing to see him develop as much as he has in just 1 season.

Pulley and Termi-Nater showed a lot a grit and determination as they moved from defense up to forward for the final playoff run. Termi-Nater would get some big goals for the Wild while Pulley showed off her feistiness to make life miserable to the opposing defense.

James played his best hockey of the season, showing a lot of hussle and battling hard along the boards.

Powsy showed some great speed in the offensive zone and has really developed his shot into quite the weapon, creating a lot of fear among the rest of the leagues goalies.

Overall it was an amazing finish to a cap off a great season. Every player showed a ton of improvement and the team really came together. Since our tournament in Paisley this team really turned a corner in their development and played some truly outstanding hockey.

I could not be any more proud of this team and I know the rest of the coaching staff is as well.

Just to give you some numbers to show our improvement this season:

W-L-T Goals For Goals Against Goals per Game Goals Against Per Game
1st 10 games 0-10-0 10 63 1.00 6.30
Last 10 games 3-4-3 18 24 1.80 2.40

Hoping all of the kids had a lot of fun this season. I can say that the coaches did.

A big thank you to all of the parents for getting the kids out to games and practices and hope to see everyone back again next season!

Great job Wild!!
