The Orillia Lions Club formed the Lions Club of Beaverton in 1947 and presented us with our gong.  The official chartering took place on January 20, 1948 with 31 charter members.

Our club’s 50+ dedicated volunteers strive to make our community a better place. Our projects are aimed to improve our community's services and resources with a focus on children and youth activities on top of the Lion's 5 Global Causes of  Diabetes, Vision, Hunger, Environment & Childhood Cancer. The Randy Skinner Family Splash Pad, Foster Hewitt Memorial Playground, Skate Park and paved Lions Loop are examples of the community work our club has accomplished in recent years. Our annual activities including the Winter Carnival, Canada Day Celebrations and Elimination Draw are designed to raise funds and have fun together.

The Beaverton Lions have a long relationship with the Foster Hewitt Foundation. Mr. Hewitt owned a cottage on Lake Simcoe in Beaverton and today his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and now his great-great-grandchildren continue to enjoy the property and many are now permanent residents of Beaverton. The Foundation first supported the Beaverton Lions Youth Swim Program, subsidizing costs for kids learning how to swim in Lake Simcoe and later at Centennial Park, Canal Lake. Almost 20 years later, the Foster Hewitt Foundation continues to support the Beaverton Lions with it's entire youth programming and has contributed to multiple community projects in Beaverton through the Lions and other community organizations. In recognition of this continued support the Township of Brock has named the harbour playground and the Beaverton Community Centre in his name. Without the support of the extended Hewitt Family the Beaverton Community would not be the same.

Our club is made up of a diverse and dedicated group who are committed to the betterment of our community. We are always interested in welcoming new members who share our enthusiasm to support and improve our community.
