The U13 Rep team had a great start to the season with
a convincing 7-2 win over the Millbrook Stars. “The kids are really starting to come together and play as a team, the play making is nice to see, and our goaltending has been excellent” expressed head
coach Shawn Prentice.
In the 1st period spectators enjoyed some close
hockey with both teams moving the puck well and goalies stopping all shots. In
the 2nd period the Stars got the 1st goal but the Wild
capitalized on two power plays with goals from Owen Dewsbury and Derek Bell.
Wild went into the 3rd up 2-1.
Brock continued with a relentless forecheck and strong
passing and connected on multiple opportunities with 5 more goals in the 3rd
period, including another power play and one shorthanded goal. 3rd
period goals from Matthew Patterson (2), Owen Dewsbury (2), Derek Bell (2), and
Tyler Nicholson. The Wild also benefitted from some stellar goaltending from
Colten Ranic. "The team played hard and never gave up, with hard work like that it's going to be a fun season," said Colten.
Brock MVP of the game and assistant captain Matthew Patterson said, “We came out fast and we had a good forecheck”. The 3rd period
also had its fair share of penalties for both teams and Brock will look to be
more disciplined in upcoming games explained captain Derek Bell “We all worked
hard and got the win, but we need to stay out of the box”.
The Wild will play their next games at the Dan Bell South
Muskoka Tournament this weekend and next regular season game against Highland
Storm in Minden October 28th.
