We played an awesome first thirty seconds and an awesome last 30 secs, but the minutes in between were long for our boys. Toggy started us off, scoring on the first shot of the game, and that was a signal to our boys to relax, as Newcastle came down and scored on their first shot of the game a couple of minutes later. This seemed to serve as a wake up call, as the boys tightened up until a second goal by Newcastle early in the second period. Back and forth we went, with Aiden making a few key saves, including a key shoulder stop late in the third to keep it a one goal deficit. After a late icing call to Newcastle, we pulled our goalie. A won draw by Toggy to TP standing at the top of the circle, who picked the top corner, giving us a tie in the dying seconds.

Wasn't sure if the boys were even awake in the dressing room before the game, but must have been because they had their game faces on already, for as soon as they hit the ice, it was all business. Welcoming Bryden back after a couple games absence, our three full lines were clicking right from the opening face off. First shift saw a beauty goal from Malcolm, who finished a tic tac toe play off from Gregson and Pullin, and the team never looked back. 8 different scorers lit the lamp in this game, with multigoal games from Malcolm, Footie and Toggy. Except for a minor braincramp in the third, where the Coyotes got 4 goals in a span of two minutes, the boys played a good defensive game as well, limiting the Coyotes to only 3 shots in the first two periods.

The boys seem to have really found their stride in the past couple of games. The boys got 40 shots for the second game in a row, and must of had just as many passes if not more to set up the goals, and kept the hustle going! 7 different scorers (Fireball, TP (2), Kartsy, Malcolm, Toggy, Footie, and Dougie) got us the goals we were starved for at the start of the year. A better effort in the defensive zone was evident as well, as the boys were able to make good decisions about getting the puck out of our end and keeping Lindsays shot total in the single digits. Great effort tonight boys, keep up the same effort vs Kawartha on Sunday!

First league game of the year and the boys were pumped! Having a couple of familiar faces on the opposing team certainly helped for the boys to keep their focus and take it to Woodville! A season high 40 shots was the highlight as the boys worked hard to get themselves into a position for shooting chances. A scoreless first was followed by Woodville getting on the board first, but TP took exception to that and tied it up on a nifty move before the end of the period. The boys then figured out the Woodville tender, with Dougie giving us the lead early in the third, and Toggy wrapping up the scoring with a seeing eye shot over the goalies shoulder.  The boys kept their feet moving for the whole entire game, and their hard work was rewarded with their first win of the year.

A weekend trip to Oro saw the Brock Wild represent themselves well. A couple of close games and a lot of team bonding at the hotel saw us grow as a team. I would like to think it was the hockey, but it probably had more to do with the picnic football game!
The boys came together for the last game, and played South Muskoka really tough, keeping the play in the Muskoka end for a majority of the game, and only allowing 3 shots against in the first period! Ethan Macleish got us on the board for that game but one bad bounce cost us a chance for the win. Congrats to Aiden Torrance, Dougie Pullin, and Ethan Macleish for earning player of the game honours at the tournament. Keep up the hard work boys, and lets start the season next weekend with a win!
