Highland has played us tough all year, and this game was no exception. We played well to start the game with Footie taking a nice feed from Malcolm behind the net and converting it on their first shift of the game! Highland tied it up before the end of the first, and then we took a nap in the second and dug ourselves a hole before we knew it. Got it going again in the third, and were in Highlands face more, and aggressively forechecking and making them make mistakes. Gregson picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, muscled through a couple of Highland Defenders and went top shelf to get our second of the game in the third. Our second period though, proved too deep of a hole to dig ourselves out of, and we will have to take care of business in that period moving on.

It was back to back games against top three teams, and it certainly was entertaining for the fans that were watching! Brock applied pressure early and often, and Footie opened the scoring halfway through the first, assisted by Malcolm. Wasn't until the middle of the second before we could score again, this time it was Malcolm lighting the lamp and Footie and Dougie assisting. After a quick break between periods, it looked like we were getting tired, and Woodville started pressing us. We started to have issues getting the puck out of our own end, but when we did, Toggy got our third goal, assisted by Sawyer to give us some breathing room. Some nice passing from Allison to Norris to Kartsy got us our last goal. Late penalties and an empty woodville net allowed them to get their goal.

In an highly anticipated battle of two top teams, the boys were pumped to get on the ice and see what they were made of! We really took it to Lindsay in the first period, battling hard for the puck and focusing on the back check. Halfway through the second though, Lindsay scored the only goal of the game, an unlucky bounce after a big save. We had a ton of chances and were able to sustain the pressure throughout the game, but just couldn't get a bounce this night, even though the Hockey Gods should have rewarded us for the hard work and pressure that we kept up for the entire game. The "D"played a more offensive game for us, which was great to see, and our forwards were instrumental in establishing the fore check and getting some good chances tonight.

After a great game on Thursday night, the coaches were eager to see how the boys would follow it up. They started off a little slow, but caught fire in the second period and never looked back. Footie had to break the ice for us by lighting the lamp for our first goal of the game. After that, things took off, and 7 different scorers helped lead us to an 8-0 win. Among those 8, Kruzer got his first of the year with a boomer from the point! Strong games by the rest of our 'd' limited Millbrook to a single digit shot total, and helped Aiden earn the shutout.  The coaching staff was really impressed with the puck movement today, and the poise shown with the puck, with many of the players searching out targets to complete passes to and waiting for the right time to make them.

Wow. That was the first word out of Coach Andy's mouth in his post-game speech, and I couldn't agree more. Every time these kids raise their game (like on the weekend), we seem to find that extra gear and raise the bar again. This new in-your-face kind of pressure that we are playing is certainly paying off, as the Sturgeon players saw nothing but white jersey every time they touched the puck, causing them to cough it up time and time again, leading to some great scoring chances that we converted into goals. Every bounce, pass and shot seemed to go our way tonight and it was reflected in our score. Hats off to Kruz, Ben and Malcolm for taking some physical punishment and dealing some out as well. This was a great team effort tonight boys, awesome job!
