Mite White Finishes Strong in Wild Weekend
The Brock White squad had a busy week playing 3 games in 4 days beginning February 23rd against our local rivals the Brock Green and ending with a hard fought battle against Sturgeon Lake White on Sunday.

In the first game the boys were up against the always tough Brock Green squad. This game featured an end to end battle that ended in a 2-2 tie. Declan played a sensational game in goal making a ton of difficult saves. Jayvon and Eric scored the goals for the White squad.

In the second game the boys were in very tough against the 9-1-1 Kawartha Red squad. In this one the boys played one of our best games of the year keeping the score close through the first 2 periods before Kawartha was able to pull away late in the 3rd. Derek made several amazing saves including a huge glove save on a Kawartha breakaway. In the end the boys suffered a 8-3 loss but the game was a lot closer than the score would indicate. Jayvon had 2 goals in the contest while Eric would add another on a great second effort following outskating 2 defenders and banging in his own rebound.

In the 3rd and final game the boys travelled to Bobcaygeon where they took on the Sturgeon Red. In this one the Sturgeon squad jumped out to a big 6-2 lead heading into the 3rd period but the Brock Whites battled hard and almost tied it but ultimately came up a little short in a hard fought 6-5 loss. Jayvon had 3 goals for the hat-trick while Johnny who had several close chances in previous games finally got one in the 3rd.

But the biggest highlight in this one was seeing Owen get his first ever goal! Showing a ton of patience, he outwaited the Sturgeon goalie and put a beauty into the back of the net to make it 6-5. Despite several close attempts our boys were just unable to jam in the tying goal.

Nathan had a good game in net making some really nice saves.

In all 3 games the boys played very solid defensively always shooting the puck up the boards to get out of our own end and making nice passes to move the puck into the other end.

Rhys made several game saving stops of his own coming back hard to take the puck away in all 3 games and has become an incredible defender.

Declan and Garnett were beasts in all 3 games always working hard and digging in to get the puck loose and out of our end. Both had some nice scoring chances as well.

Isaac, Nathan and Kashton continue to improve with every game digging in and doing a great job shooting the puck down the ice.

Derek, Johnny and Jayvon continue to excel at both ends of the rink while Eric and Owen are suddenly starting to emerge as scoring threats.

Next up is the playoffs on Saturday. Due to a new format the boys are only guaranteed 2 games with a chance at a 3rd based on how we do in the first 2 games. First game will be 10:00 in Ops against the Millbrook Stars and the 2nd game will be at 1:00 in Ops against the Brock Green squad. If we make the top 4 in our pool we will play a 3rd and final game at either 4:00 or 5:00.

Keep up the good work boys and let’s work hard to finish our season with a 3rd game on Saturday. Our final practice will be held this Thursday.
