As much as I have enjoyed writing these little summaries, it is always harder to write about the losses than the wins. I think that our boys deserved better than the loss because of how hard they worked and how far they came over the course of the season. And I know, that Sturgeon knows, that sometimes, it is simply better to be lucky than good.  Even though our season ended with a loss, I can say that this was a great group of kids, and I am thankful that Aiden was able to be involved with such a great group of boys.  Thank you all for reading the summaries, and of course, as ...

After a narrow loss on Thursday night, the 'Bys came out flying on Saturday afternoon and played a real hard game. We struck first when Brock fed it to Donnie for a big clapper into the back of the net! Then we got into some penalty trouble in the second, and Sturgeon got two goals to take the lead. Mavy would tie it with help from Brock and Prusty, but Sturgeon scored again shorthanded to take the 3-2 lead into the flood. The 'Bys traveled to Sturgeon to see if they could keep up the momentum gained in game 2, and they came out flying in the first. A tight first period was kept scoreless, with Aiden making some key saves to keep it that way. Issac opened up the scoring in the first, bulging the twine with TP and Brock assisting. Keeping up the forecheck and a good cycle game, saw Mavy get our second goal, assisted by Swizz. Looking to make amends for the last game in Sturgeon, the 'Bys came out and played a much more rounded game on Sunday. Scoreless in the first, but it was an exciting back and forth one, highlighted by a Mavy penalty shot! Early in the second, Toggy broke in on the wing and fired one far side to take the lead! A couple of minutes later, a frustrated Sturgeon team took a penalty and that cost them, as Donny fired a clapper from the point and found the twine! (assisted by Mavy and Toggy). The 'Bys were coming into the series riding a big wave after defeating Kawartha in the last series, and headed to Sturgeon to start the 1/4 finals. The high we were on quickly disappeared however, as we didn't bring our A game. Down three goals by early in the second, we tightened up after that and starting taking it to them. Mavy finally broke the ice for us late in the second, to get us within 2. Then Toggy and Brock connected before the end of the period to get us within 1.
