Wild Finish Busy Week Picking up 5 of 6 points on Weekend!
The Brock Wild finished off a very busy week in winning fashion picking up 5 of a possible 6 points as they played out 3 games in 4 days!

Coming off a big win Thursday night against Mariposa the Wild had a busy weekend with a home game  on Saturday followed by a road game on Sunday.

In the first game, the Wild took on their long time rivals, the Woodville Hurricanes.

The Wild came out on fire generating some nice scoring chances early. Unable to control our Wild attack, the Hurricanes would take a penalty just 2 minutes in. The Wild would take full advantage putting a ton of pressure in the Hurricanes end, as their power play would go to work.

With just 20 seconds left in the Woodville penalty the Wild would get on the scoreboard. Powsey coming off a 4 goal effort Thursday night would continue to carry a hot stick as he would pick up the loose puck in front and hammer it past the Hurricanes net-minder to give the Wild the 1-0 lead.

The Hurricanes tried to counter but Half-Price made a nice pad save and the Wild countered right back. Once again it was Powsey who would battle past 2 Hurricane defenders to go in all alone and put one past the outstretched pad of the Hurricanes goalie and the Wild were up 2-0!

The Hurricanes continued to battle us hard but our defense held strong keeping the shots to the outside where Half-Price was able to make the saves look easy as we headed into the 2nd period up 2-0.

The 2nd period was a seesaw battle with both sides getting some nice scoring chances. Half-Price had to make some beauty saves including a nice glove hand from in close.

Then with just over 2 minutes left in the period the Hurricanes would narrow the lead. Former Wild player, Mason Stewart would get in all alone and fire one just over the blocker of Half-Price as the Wild lead was cut down to 2-1.

But the Wild would come right back. With no time left on the clock, Powsey would complete his 2nd straight hat-trick. Kirky would make a great play to keep the puck inside the Hurricanes zone and fire a hard pass to Lynchy who made a nice play behind the net to send it out front to a wide-open Powsey who would hammer it home just, beating the buzzer to give the Wild a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd.

The Hurricanes came at us hard in the 3rd. Just one minute in Stewart would narrow the Wild lead to just 1 as he would fire one off the shoulder of Half-Price that would give an unlucky bounce into the top of the net.

Just 2 minutes later the Hurricanes struck again. This time the Hurricanes sniper (#4) was able to get off a hard blast from just inside the hashmarks that beat Half-Price to the stick side and found the corner of the net to tie the game at 3.

But the Wild would re-group and once again go back on the attack. With 4 minutes left Vonzie would get loose on a breakaway and fire one into the top corner to once regain the lead for the Wild.

The Hurricanes would not go down lightly though as they came back yet again with just 3 minutes left. Once again it was #4 for the Hurricanes who would fire another laser just past the pad of Half-Price and the game was once again tied.

The 2 teams continued to exchange scoring chances until the final minute. Pulley did some nice work at the blueline to keep the puck in allowing Vonzie and Termi-Nater to continue the battle hard down low. Termi-Nater was able to dig the puck out and put it out front where Vonzie was able to jam it home for a big 5-4 lead. Pulley and Termi-Nater would each get an assist on the play.

The Hurricanes came back hard but the Wild were able to hang on for the 5-4 victory to sweep the season series 2-0.

The Wild would not have long to celebrate as they were right back on the road the next day to take on the always tough Lindsay Muskies.

The Muskies won the 1st meeting 7-2 so the Wild were looking for redemption on Sunday.

Both teams came out battling hard in the 1st with both teams getting some nice chances but both goaltenders making some big saves as the period would end deadlocked at 0-0.

In the 2nd period the Muskies would get on the board first. With 3 minutes left in the period, the Muskies would drive to the net and jam one in just under the pad of Half-Price as the Wild found themselves down 1-0.

But the Wild would come back hard in the 3rd. Just 2 minutes in the Termi-Nater would show some great hussle as he would strip the Muskies defender of the puck and send the puck back behind the net where it was picked up by Lyncher who would circle in front and slide it home for his 1st goal this season.

The goal was a big one as neither team was able to get the go-ahead marker. Both teams would skate away with a point in a hard fought 1-1 tie.

An overall fantastic weekend for the Wild as they would wrap up the 3 in 4 stretch with 5 of a possible 6 points.

Kirky and Crusty lead the defense with some gritty back checking and some solid work keeping the puck inside the offensive zone.

Pulley and Wild Bill had a real strong showing in both games showing a lot of feistiness and hussle.

Hudsy continued to show some strong play defensively to break up plays and battle the puck out of our end.

Powsey continues to improve every game and showed an offensive outsburst with 7 goals in 2 games!

Slammer and Lynchey showed a ton of grit and effort down the middle for the Wild, working hard at both ends of the rink.

Vonzie continued to contribute goals at key times, and showed a lot of hussle getting to loose pucks.

Termi-Nater continues to earn his new nickname showing some real toughness in the corners and along the boards while Payner also showed us some good toughness getting the puck out of our end.

Reesor missed the Saturday match but came back with a real strong game defensively on Sunday.

Half-Price continues to impress with some key saves and has shown a lot of improvement tracking down rebounds.

The team is really coming together and it is starting to show in the standings as well. Great work by everyone. You are making the coaches and your fans very proud!

Next up is a rematch with the Lindsay Muskies on Saturday in Lindsay. The host team is celebrating Lindsay Musky day and the Wild plan to spoil the day with a big victory!
