Wild Stay Red Hot With Big Win Over the Stars!
The Wild continued their strong play over the weekend with a big battle against the Millbrook Stars on Saturday.

The Wild came out hard from the start in this one and got on the board first just 2 minutes in. Slammer took a nice pass from Termi-Nater and buried it into the back of the net to give the Wild the early 1-0 lead.

Both teams would continue to trade chances for the remainder of the period but both goalies were on fire making big saves at each end.

Then with just 2 minutes left in the period, the Stars would even the score. Half-Price made a great first save but the Stars had a forward in front who banged in the rebound tie the score at 1 heading into the 2nd period.

The 2 teams battled hard in the 2nd with both teams getting chances but the 2 goalies continued to be sharp as the game remained tied until late in the period.

With just 40 seconds left in the period the Stars would get the go ahead goal. After a flurry of activity in front the Stars were able to get a hard shot through traffic and just past Half-Price as the Wild found themselves down 2-1 heading into the 3rd.

The Stars came at us hard early in the 3rd to try to put the game away but Half-Price shut the door and would not allow any to get by him.

This gave the Wild the boost they needed as they turned on the pressure midway through the period and were finally rewarded. Lynchey was able to carry the puck out of our end and made a nice pass to Crusty who then found Vonzie breaking down the middle.

Voznie would then go in all alone and bury it to tie the game at 2-2.

The Stars were determined to get it back, and almost did with a couple breakaways but got robbed by Half-Price who was having the game of his life in goal.

Then with less than 1 minute to go the Wild went on the attack. Kirky did a great job to keep the puck inside the Stars end,  firing a hard shot towards the net that was blocked but then picked up by Lynchey. Lynchey got off a hard shot that went off the goalies pads and off to the side of the net where Slammer was able to pick it up and somehow got the puck just between the pad and the post to give the Wild the 3-2 lead!

The Stars came right back at us in the final 40 seconds with the net empty but Half-Price made yet another big save in the final seconds on yet another breakaway to seal the victory!

It was the Wild’s 4th win in their last 5 games and improved their record to 7-2-1 over their last 10 games!

A fantastic team effort with every player serving a major role in the victory.

Wild Bill was a force on every shift, going hard into the corners like a wrecking ball and showing a lot of intensity on the attack.

The defensive foursome of Pulley, Kirky, Reesor and Crusty were rock solid all game, getting back quickly to clear rebounds and doing a great job getting the puck out of our end while also doing a great job keeping the puck in the Stars end to keep the pressure in the Stars end.

Slammer continues to be a workhorse for the Wild showing a lot of grit and determination at both ends of the rink and was rewarded with 2 goals on the night.

Vonzie showed a ton of hussle beating the Stars defense to loose pucks and getting several nice shots on goal and was also rewarded with a goal.

Lynchey played a fantastic game at center going hard at both ends of the rink and had 2 assists.

The Termi-Nater, Hudsy and Payner all played a gritty game, battling hard in the corners and along the boards and did a good job staying with their defenseman.

Half-Price was an absolute wall in the Wild net especially in the 3rd period with the game on the line.

Overall a fantastic team effort. Our forwards really stepped up their effort in this one as we were missing one our key offensive weapons in Powsey.

Great work by everybody. The team has really come a long way and are looking very sharp as we start getting geared up for the playoffs!

The coaching staff could not be any more proud of each and every one of you. Keep up the hard work!
