The Wild took part in Musky Day at Lindsay on December 8th
and came home with a big victory to spoil the day for the Lindsay fans!
The game did not start out well for the Wild as they would surrender the 1st goal just 1 minute in. Lindsay would send a pass out front that would hit a skate and end up right onto a Musky stick for an easy tap in to give the host team an early lead.
But the Wild would come right back just 2 minutes later. Crusty went to the net hard and hammered one home to tie the game at 1.
The rest of the period was back and forth with both teams getting some good chances but neither team could find the back of the net as the period would end 1-1.
In the 2nd, the Wild would increase their intensity and would be rewarded late in the period as Powsey would get loose on a breakaway and fire one over the outstretched pad to give the Wild a 2-1 lead.
The Muskies came close to getting the tying goal but Half-Price made a sensational poke check on a Musky breakaway to keep the lead at 1 heading into the 3rd.
Once again the Wild came out strong and would add to the lead just 2 minutes in as Vonzie would get loose and fire one past the Musky net-minder and the Wild were up by 2!
The Muskies would battle hard to get back into it but Half-Price made some nice saves to keep the lead at 2.
With just a couple minutes left the Muskies would make it close as they would strike on a breakaway to narrow the lead to 3-2.
But that’s as close as it would get as the Wild would hang on for a thrilling 3-2 victory, putting a damper on the Muskies day celebration!
A great team effort that really demonstrates just how much this team has improved this season. At the beginning of the season the same Lindsay team dominated against us for a 7-2 win. Now not only are we able to compete with them but have improved enough to beat them!
Kirky took a shot a playing center for this one and did a solid job.
Slammer showed a lot of great 2 way play with some great back checking and some nice scoring chances up front.
Our wingers Wild Bill, Payner, Powsey, Vonzy and the Termi-Nater showed a lot of speed and grit all game long.
Our defense of Lynchy, Crusty, Pulley and Hudsy were strong getting the puck out and did a great job of breaking up plays.
Half-Price was real solid in net making several nice saves.
Great job by everyone. Keep up the great work!
