Brock vs Sturgeon Lake Thunder - Jan 24
On Tuesday January 24th, the boys were home to the Sturgeon Lake Thunder.

Despite playing a solid game at both ends of the rink, the boys were shut down by impressive goaltending and tight defensive checking by the Sturgeon Lake squad as the boys suffered a tough 3-1 loss.

The first period was very evenly matched with both teams getting several chances but it was the Thunder who would strike first sneaking one in past Oke late in the 3rd to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd.

Much like the first, the second period saw many chances by both teams with some big saves by Oke (sporting a nice new Team Canada helmet courtesy of Mitchell) and several quality shots by Dewsbury, Bugg and Mitchell and some great rushes by Wilson, Giguere and Howell.

Mitchell would tie the game late in the period on a great wrist shot that found its way through the 5 hole to tie the game at 1 heading into the 3rd.

In the 3rd the bounces just would not go our way as a rebound shot trickled up and over Oke’s stick to make it 2-1. Moments later the Thunder would get loose on a breakaway and slide another past Oke to give them the 3-1 lead.

Despite some great effort the boys were unable to get another one past the Sturgeon netminder as the boys fell 3-1.

Underwood, Dowswell and Yerema were solid as usual defensively all game while Benge and Parry were solid on the forecheck.

Next game is tonight in Oakwood against the Mariposa Lightning.

William Parry gets the nod in goal.
