Brock Wild One Win Away from Championship with 2-0 Win Over Sturgeon!
The Brock Wild opened their Final series against the Sturgeon Lake Thunder Tuesday night on home ice.

The game featured fast paced back to back action for the first 2 periods as neither team could find the back of the net.

But late in the 3rd the Wild would finally pounce as Bugg would hammer home Howell’s rebound to give the Wild a 1-0 lead and bring the home crowd to their feet. The Wild would continue to put pressure on for the remainder of the period and would strike again late in the period. Haecker kept the puck in at the blue line and got the puck up to Bugg who was able to get it to Howell who blasted it through the Thunder goalie to pad the lead to 2-0.

With Mitchell being a rock in net, the 2 goals proved to be enough as the Wild hung on for a thrilling 2-0 victory to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series. The win marked the 8th consecutive game without a loss for our boys who are getting hot at just the right time.

Benge was a beast all night long, making several nice rushes and take aways and also having several shots on night.

The defensive foursome of Haecker, Underwood, Dowswell and Oke were incredible keeping the Thunder offence off the scoresheet and making it easy for Mitchell to see the puck.

Offensively the Bugg, Benge and Howell trio were on fire all night creating all sorts of havoc for the Thunder squad. Giguere also had several nice rushes weaving through the maze of Sturgeon defenders and had several close chances.

Yerema and Dewsbury were solid on the forecheck and both created some nice turnovers in the Sturgeon zone.

The boys will play game 2 Saturday on the road with a chance to win the Championship!
