Horse Shoes and Hand Grenades
Being close does count in other things. Unfortunately, our Cinderella story did not have the fairy tail ending that we had all hoped for as we put up a good fight in a 5-0 loss in the championship final. The game was much closer than the score would indicate - and this was echoed in my post game conversation with the opposing coach. We both remembered back to the first game of the season when they laid a beating on us winning 12-1. We improved exponentially over the last 5+ months and forced that team to a final winner take all game.

There were several highs and lows throughout this season. We had 4 players score their first career goal. One player earned his first win as a goalie while another earned his first shutout. Besides the massive improvements each player made this season, I am especially proud of the "no quit" attitude that this team showed in winning several games when coming from behind - the best one on December 3rd in Millbrook where we trailed 5-1 in the second period before storming back for a thrilling 9-8 victory.
This team was in last place until November 18th with a 1-8 record before turning the season around and taking the top team to the limit in the final.
Cheers to you, the Brock Atom White, for working hard all season. The other six teams in our loop would gladly trade places. There is no shame in finishing in second place.
Thanks to everyone - players, parents (and grandparents), and the entire coaching staff for making this such a great season.
