Tykes Start Season With Great Effort in 2 tough losses.
The 2017-18 season is under way for the Brock Wild Tykes.

The season began Sunday October 15th on the road against a very tough Millbrook squad. The Wild came out on fire mounting an early 3-0 lead and carried a 4-3 lead into the 3rd period. But the Millbrook squad caught fire and exploded for 8 goals in the final period as we fell 11-5 in our first contest of the year.

Despite the score, there were a ton of positives to take away from the game. Every player on the team worked hard and battled for the puck for the entire game. Our goalie made several nice saves and everyone on the team did a good job of getting back to help both on the defensive side and offensive side of the ice.

Unfortunately, the Millbrook snipers found a way to get some pucks into the net but there is no doubt that the Wild gave them a big scare for the first 2 periods.

The final score was definitely not representative of the way the team played. For being the first game of the year everyone can very proud of how well we competed.

2 nights later we were on the road again, this time against another offensive juggernaut in the Mariposa Lightning. From the very first shot on goal (a wicked wrister right into the top of the net) we knew we were in tough. But our team fought hard all game and kept the score close in a hard fought 7-2 loss. Once again every player fought hard and never gave up despite being down. Our goalie made several spectacular saves to keep the game within reach but we were just unable to get any lucky bounces to go our way. It just appeared to be Mariposa’s night in terms of lucky bounces.

Regardless of the final scores, the first 2 matches showed that we have some great character on this team and excellent work ethic. The coaches have no doubt the team will only get better as the season progresses.

Overall a great start to the season! Keep working hard everyone and the wins will surely come!! We are very proud of each and every one of you!

Next up is the Mariposa Lightning White squad at 1:00 Saturday in Sunderland. Blake Brock will get the start in goal following a fantastic game Tuesday night in his first ever game playing out.

Let’s go Wild!!
