Tykes Put Up a Good Fight in Loss to Highland Storm!
On Saturday the Brock Wild hosted the Highland Storm from Haliburton to an exhibition tilt. The Highland Storm are a very skilled team that plays hockey all year round so the Wild knew they were in for a battle.

In the first the Storm showed their skill level as they mounted a 5-1 lead after 1 period of play. Parry made some nice saves in the period while Pearce would get the Wild goal with a nice wrist shot to the low blocker side.

Despite being down, the Wild battled very hard in the 2nd and 3rd periods holding the Storm to just 2 goals over the final 20 minutes and creating several nice chances at the other end.

Parry made some nice saves and the Wild played a strong defensive game in those final 2 periods. Unfortunately, the game ended in a 7-1 loss but given the quality of our opponent the team should be quite proud of how well we played overall.

Missing Malcolm and Payne, the Wild played tough all game long.

Cresanto, Davidson, Kirkos and Giles played a solid game on defense clearing rebounds, blocking shots and getting the puck out of our end.

Our centers Stewart, Lynch and Benge all played great 2 way hockey while our wingers Brock, Pearce, Smith and Slama worked hard on the fore-check all game and made some nice passes to create some nice scoring chances.

Mason Stewart was awarded the Ferrel player of the game for his great hussle and effort all game long.

Next up is the Sturgeon Thunder on Saturday in Sunderland at 1:00. Blake Brock will get the start between the pipes.

Let’s go Wild! Keep working hard!
