Brock Green Goes Wild in Win Over Mariposa
With our best offensive output of the season, our side routed the Lightning 10-4, evening our record to 3 wins and 3 losses. Eight different players accounted for the 10 goals and 11 players recorded at least one point. As there was too much action to recount every goal (7 goals in the second period alone), noteworthy tallies were made by Dax Giguere and Brody Bugg each with their first of the season. Campbell Ellis and Marcus Howell each had 2 goals and 1 assist. There were also several great un-selfish passes on the part of several players that were designed to spread the scoring to team mates that hadn't scored yet this season.
Perhaps the best back-check of the season had Travis Yake chase down a Lightning player from 30 feet behind to stifle a breakaway. As coach Mike has noted from game 1 "Never give up!". On a lesser note, the third period was not great defensively. Many players could smell the opportunity to score and forgot about playing their position. This resulted in our side being out scored 2-0 in the final period. Guess what we will be working on in the 2 practices that we have before our next game?
Dax Giguere was chosen player of the game with his great positional play and scoring his first of the season.
