The Come-Back Kids!
It seems that close exciting games are becoming the norm for our side. Tonight was as thrilling a victory as any this season. Bryden Parliament opened the scoring mid way through the first period - a period that we had several chances to extend the lead but still had the lead heading to the second period. We held that lead until late in the second when our opponents made the best of their limited chances to tie it at 1-1. Both sides traded shots until Lindsay put a shot in the back of the net to take the lead with just 4:07 remaining.
It seemed to go from bad to worse when the referees decided to get involved in the game after missing several obvious penalties earlier in the game. With our side short handed with 2:34 remaining we hoped to kill the penalty and pull Liam in the dying seconds to try to salvage a tie. But the players had a plan of their own. With Bryden and Travis on to try to kill the penalty, The Tazmanian Devil and the Bulldog buzzed the Lindsay goal keeper with Travis burying the tying goal. Still short handed, it was Cole and Arons turn to kill the remainder of the penalty. But the Viper and the Rhino picked up the momentum snatched in the previous shift and buried a short handed goal of their own with Cole firing a deflected shot passed the Lindsay net minder for the game winner.
It seems 2017 is good for our squad as our record is 4-2-1 since the new year.
